Youth-Led Digital Archive
Kiskeya YouthUnder this initiative (as a continuation of Kiskeya Youth’s Youth ACT Research Lab), 20 young people from batey communities in the north of the Dominican Republic will lead the creation of a digital archive that houses their community histories. They will use oral history, pláticas, testimonio, archival investigation, and arts-based research methods to accomplish the following goals: record the lived experience of residents in their community; identify problems in their neighborhood and world; and find creative solutions to address those problems and imagine innovative alternative realities.
The YPAR Cycle
Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) is a powerful instrument for community change and problem-solving in which young people take the lead in a research process as primary investigators, knowledge-producers and problem-solvers. YPAR youth scholars act as co-researchers along with the program facilitators.
